Does anyone else out there eat hummus as much as we do?  My hubby, Cohl, can go through a container in about 5 minutes flat. Before I know it I turn around and he is essentially licking the bottom for whatever might be left.

Buying pre-made hummus can get a little pricey if you go through it as quickly as we do.  A while back I learned how to make a Classic Hummus recipe from my mother-in-love, Loree.  From then on I was hooked!

Whenever I have a little extra time I definitely prefer to make the hummus we eat in our household from scratch.  It’s fresher and WAY less expensive considering the rate we consume this “hip dip.”  Be sure to check out this Lentil Hummus I made a few months ago… the lentils replace the garbanzo beans for an even healthier hummus recipe!

So how do you make this Roasted Sweet Potato Hummus?

The recipe starts out by calling for roasted sweet potatoes.  Simply toss peeled and cubed sweet potatoes in a bit of olive oil, salt and pepper and Voila!  You have yourself some roasted sweet potatoes.

The next step to making this sweet potato hummus is all about incorporating your ingredients into a food processor in the CORRECT order.

Check out the video below and I will show you how easy it is!

Why doesn’t this sweet potato hummus have tahini?

Honestly, because I thought it would be easier without it.  How many times have you gone to make hummus and realized you either were out of tahini or did not have enough left?  Also, it seems as if it is one of those ingredients that is relatively difficult to find for most people.  The sweet potatoes in this hummus recipe are already pretty dominant so tahini is not necessary to make this dip taste amazing.

What is your favorite kind of hummus?

Are you more of a classic-type?  Or maybe a bit spicy?  I would love to hear in the comments section below!  Happy Hummus-ing!
