Air Fryer  French Fries

Ingredients

Potatoes

1. Cut each potato in half lengthwise. 2. Place one of the halves flat-side down on the cutting board and make cuts about ½-inch apart. 3. Put these pieces flat-side down and finish cutting potatoes into long, thin strips. Repeat with remaining potatoes.

Cutting Potatoes

This next step is KEY to getting those crispy edges. Place potatoes in a large bowl and fill it up with cool water.  Let the potatoes soak for at least 20-30 minutes.

Soaking The Fries

Drain the water from the fries and dry them thoroughly with a dish towel.  I mean, really, really dry them.  If any water is left on the fries they will come out soggy instead of crispy.

Dry The Fries

Add fries to a large bowl.  Drizzle with oil and sprinkle with salt.  Add just enough salt, but not too much. Toss fries until completely coated in the oil and salt.

Season The Fries

Heat air fryer to 375°F. Place them in a single layer with none of the fries touching. Cook fries for 12 minutes, flipping halfway through.

Tips For Crispy Fries

Place the fries in a single layer, with little to no touching.  Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.

Soak fries in cool water for at least 20-30 minutes to remove the excess starch.

Cut the fries a similar size to ensure even cooking and crispiness.

Toss with just enough oil, and not too much.

Flip the fries halfway through cooking to allow all sides of the fries to crisp up fully.
