HOW TO CUT AN AVOCADO
SELECTING RIPE AVOCADOS
Firmness: They need to be slightly softened but not mushy.
Stem: Peel back the stem - if green underneath, the avocado is ripe.
Color: Avocados with darker skin are generally ripe and ready to eat.
REMOVE THE PIT
Slice lengthwise until knife hits the pit. Turn avocado on its side & continue cutting avocado in half.
Twist the two halves to separate them. Hit the pit with your knife to remove it.
TIME TO SLICE
Now you can either cut the avocado into slices or cubes. Once slices/cubes are done scoop them out using a large spoon.
ALTERNATIVE METHOD
Once avocado is cut in half & pit removed, cut each half in half lengthwise. Remove & discard skin then place on cutting board to slice or dice.
It's best to use immediately after cutting. To store, wrap them in a piece of plastic wrap & store in refrigerator for up to 2 days.
