Pour the oil into a large Dutch oven and sauté the onions, celery, and carrots for 2 to 3 minutes. Toss in the garlic and continue cooking for another 30 seconds. Carefully pour in the vegetable broth, then stir in the diced tomatoes.
Stir in tomato paste, Italian seasoning, oregano, parsley, sugar, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes and bring to a boil. Add the squash and beans, followed by the pasta and frozen green beans. Boil for 7-8 minutes.
Stir in the spinach and turn off the stove. Let the soup cool before serving.
