Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe

Homemade Taco Seasoning is the best DIY recipe that is made up of only seven easy-to-find ingredients!  You can use this Paleo, gluten-free, and Whole30 taco seasoning mix as a healthy alternative to a store bought packet to season ground beef, chicken, or other meats.

  • 3 Tbsp. cumin
  • 3 tsp. paprika
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper optional
  • 1 ½ tsp. salt optional
  • 1 tsp. black pepper


  1. Mix all ingredients in a medium-sized bowl until well combined.

  2. Store taco seasoning in an airtight glass container until ready to use for up to 1-2 years.

  3. Use 2 - 2 ½ tablespoons seasoning mix per pound of meat.

  • Nutritional information is based on half of the recipe, or ~2.5 tablespoons of seasoning mix.
  • This recipe makes enough seasoning for two pounds of meat.
  • If you do not like spicy food simply leave out the cayenne pepper.
  • You can leave out the salt if you would like to adjust your sodium levels for each individual recipe you make with the taco seasoning mix.
