(The Bachelor) Red Velvet Rose Cookies

A red velvet cookie recipe that looks like a rose.  A video, pictorial and step-by-step instructions are all provided to show you how easy they are to make!

Ingredients

Cookie Dough:

  • 1 c. butter softened
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 t. vanilla
  • 2 c. white rice flour
  • ¾ c. tapioca starch
  • 1 t. xanthan gum
  • Or 2 ¾ c. all purpose GF/non-GF flour instead of the above 3 ingredients
  • 3 T. cocoa powder
  • ½ t. salt
  • 1 ½ t. baking powder
  • 1 T. red food coloring

Filling:

  • 3 T. butter melted
  • 1-1.75 oz. container red sprinkles

Instructions

For the Cookie Dough:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Place butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer and beat for 2 minutes.
  • Add egg and vanilla and beat for another 30 seconds.
  • In a separate bowl, combine remaining cookie dough ingredients (except food coloring) and mix well.
  • Slowly add dry ingredients to the butter/sugar mixture.
  • Lastly, add in food coloring and mix well.
  • Once dough is thick and thoroughly mixed, refrigerate for 30 minutes.

The Process:

  • Roll half of the cookie dough into a 14” x 8” rectangle. Spread 1 ½ T. of the melted butter over the dough and then sprinkle half of the red sprinkles over the butter.
  • Roll dough into a hot dog shape (as pictured above.) Cut into 16 slices.
  • Place cookie slices on a parchment paper-lined cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
  • Repeat above steps with the other half of the dough.
