Ingredients

  • 1 cup black eyed peas dried
  • 1 ½ cups water chicken or vegetable broth
  • ½ tsp. salt optional

Instructions

  1. Sort through black eyed peas to ensure there are no clumps or dirt or stones remaining.
  2. Add black eyed peas, water, or broth, and salt to a 4 or 6-quart pressure cooker.
  3. Set the pressure to high and cook for 13-14 minutes, depending on your desired tenderness. Wait for a 10 minute natural pressure release.

  4. Move the pressure release valve to the venting position to release all of the steam. Open the lid once the float valve goes down.
  5. Serve immediately with additional salt and black pepper or use in your favorite recipes. Enjoy!
