Chai Tea Latte

Sometimes, that craving for a Chai Tea Latte is strong, but the hefty price tag has you hesitating. The answer: make this copycat, homemade recipe! In just 10 easy minutes, you can be enjoying the warm spices and that frothy milk foam that make this drink the best, all without a trip to Starbucks.

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 chai tea bags
  • 1-2 Tbsp. maple syrup or other liquid sweetener
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon ground
  • tsp. nutmeg ground
  • tsp. ginger ground
  • 1 pinch cloves ground
  • 1 cup milk regular, or plant-based

Instructions

  • Bring water to a boil in a small saucepan over high heat. Remove the pot from the heat and add the tea bags, sweetener, and spices. Whisk together and let steep for 5-10 minutes.
  • Store the sweetener in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or until the concentrate has cooled completely.
  • Pour the chai concentrate into a 16-ounce glass with ice. Add the milk, frothed if desired, stir to combine, and enjoy!

*Oat milk and 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup were used when calculating the nutrition information.

Meal Prep and Storage

    • How to prep ahead of time: Once the concentrate is made, you can leave it in the fridge for a few days until you're ready to enjoy.
    • How to store: Once you add the milk, drink the chai tea within a few hours. The concentrate will last in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days.
    • How to freeze: It is not recommended to freeze this concentrate.
