Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground chicken 93/7
  • 1 cup apple finely diced
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. ground sage
  • ½ tsp. fennel seeds
  • ½ tsp. rosemary
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp. black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. oil avocado or olive

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a large bowl. Using either your hands or a stiff spatula, mix everything together until well combined. Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each one into a patty that is roughly 3 inches in width and 1 inch thick.
  • Add oil to a large skillet over medium heat, making sure it completely coats the bottom. Wait a minute or two for the oil to heat up and then place the patties in a single layer. Cook for 7-8 minutes, flipping over halfway through cooking.
  • Serve immediately or store for up to 3-4 days in the refrigerator.

Meal Prep and Storage

  • How to prep ahead of time: You can cut the apple, check here for how to keep apples from browning. You can also make the sausage mixture and keep it tightly covered for 1 day in the refrigerator.
  • How to store: Keep leftover apple breakfast sausages in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days.
  • How to freeze: Wrap completely cooled sausage patties tightly and store them in a freezer-safe container for up to 6 months
  • How to reheat: For the best results, warm the patties back up in a skillet over low heat. You can also use the microwave.
