This Buffalo Sauce comes together in 5 minutes with 4 ingredients and no saucepan at all, just melted butter whisked into your favorite hot sauce. Add the optional spoonful of honey and it rounds off the heat so the sauce tastes rich instead of sharp. Spicy, buttery, and done before the wings come out of the oven.
This recipe makes enough sauce for 3 pounds of wings or meatballs.

Notes
Yield: This recipe makes 1 cup of sauce, enough to coat 3 pounds of wings or meatballs.
Substitutions: A vegan butter substitute makes this dairy-free and vegan, and agave nectar or pure maple syrup can stand in for the honey. Use ½ teaspoon of garlic powder in place of the fresh garlic.
Heat level: The hot sauce you choose sets the heat. Frank’s RedHot Original lands around a 5 out of 10, and a dash of cayenne pepper takes it higher.
If it seems runny: That’s the melted butter. Let the sauce sit about 15 minutes on the counter and it thickens as the butter cools.
Make ahead: This sauce can be made a few days or even a week before you need it.
Storage: Place in an airtight container or a glass mason jar in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Freezing: Seal in a freezer-safe container for up to 6 months. It will look separated when it thaws, so whisk it back together before using.
Nutrition: Calculated for 1 tablespoon of sauce, without the honey.
