Paleo chocolate crepes are loaded with fresh strawberries and topped with homemade coconut whipped cream for a decadent breakfast treat your Valentine will love!
There is one thing I know about my Valentine…
He LOVES chocolate!
Anytime we go to a restaurant and they ask if we would like dessert the first question he asks is, “Do you have anything with double chocolate?”
Seriously. He settles for nothing less.
When most people think of Valentine’s Day they think of bouquets of roses, steak dinners, and of course… chocolate covered strawberries.
In an effort to take a healthier twist on the Valentine’s Day class, I decided to whip up a batch of these Paleo chocolate crepes loaded with fresh strawberries.
Let me just say, my Valentine was SUPER happy that the “day of love” came a full month early!
How Can You Evolve these Paleo Chocolate Crepes?
Not only are these Paleo chocolate crepes free of refined sugar, grain, and gluten, but they are also dairy-free and absolutely delicious!
A few aspects I would NOT try to change with these Paleo Chocolate Crepes:
- In many recipes swapping out a flax egg for the regular egg to make it vegan will work. However, I would not recommend doing that since the base of a crepe is, well, eggs.
- Sometimes you can exchange date syrup or pureed dates for the sweetener to make it whole30 compliant, but in this recipe it will definitely change the texture of the crepes!
What changes CAN you make to these Paleo Chocolate Crepes?
- Feel free to use whatever non-dairy milk you have. I used a coconut-almond milk blend made by AlmondBreeze… It was incredible!
- Full-fat coconut milk may be a bit too thick. If you would like to try coconut milk, use the Lite kind.
- Not Paleo? You can exchange pure cane sugar for the coconut sugar.
- I used dark cocoa powder in this recipe (remember, the hubs LOVES chocolate!) If you want to go for a lighter chocolate flavor, feel free to use regular cocoa powder.
What kitchen tools do I need to make crepes?
There are a couple of kitchen tools that will make your life a breeze when you are making these Paleo Chocolate Crepes:
- An 8-inch ceramic omelet pan. For real, you want a pan that does not stick AT ALL!
- A measuring cup with a spout. I don’t have one of these, but it would be HUGELY helpful to not make a mess all over your counter.
- A cute whisk. OK. Totally not necessary, but aren’t they adorable?!
