Easy and oh-so-creamy homemade dressing!

Ever since I learned how easy, and how much more delicious!, making salad dressings from scratch could be, I’ve never bought a salad dressing since. And this Creamy Cilantro Lime Dressing is the perfect example of how a flavor-packed sauce can come together in a matter of minutes.
All you need are a few easy-to-find pantry staples like Greek yogurt, mayonnaise, lime juice, and fresh cilantro, pop it all into a blender and voila! You’ve got the perfect creamy dressing to drizzle on a Mexican Steak Salad (so, so good on this!) or even use it as a dipping sauce for some Crispy Baked Turkey Tacos.
Ingredients and Substitions
For the exact measurements and detailed instructions, please see the recipe card below.
- Cilantro. Although somewhat controversial, I use the stems and all here! (The stems actually are packed with flavor!) Do make sure you coarsely chop it before using to get the most accurate measurement.
- Greek yogurt. This makes up the bulk of the creamy texture in the dressing, so make sure you opt to full-fat and not 2% or fat-free. (These will be way too runny!)
- Mayo. Duke’s mayonnaise was used when testing this recipe as I find it has the best mild flavor that incorporates nicely into dressings and sauces.
- Lime juice. Fresh is key for the best flavor. Avoid the bottled kind as it can be too bitter.
- Oil. Avocado oil was used when testing, but a neutral-flavored olive oil or veggie oil can also be used.
How to Make a Creamy Cilantro Lime Dressing
Please see the recipe card below for the full instructions, ingredient amounts, and a printable recipe.
Blend the base ingredients.
In a blender or food processor, pulse cilantro, oil, lime juice, honey, garlic, and salt until the cilantro is finely chopped. (You want it super small here!)
Make it creamy.
Add Greek yogurt and mayo, then blend until smooth. If it’s too thick, mix in water 1 tablespoon at a time until it reaches your desired consistency.
How should I store this dressing?
Store the dressing in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Give it a good stir or shake before using, as some separation may occur.
What can I use instead of Greek yogurt?
Sour cream will work, but it will give it a more sour taste and may need more liquid to thin it out.
